The Intel Core i5 and AMD Ryzen 5 processors are part of the mid-range segment. They allow you to play average games and work in Photoshop. AMD Ryzen 5 processors are generally slightly less powerful than i5 processors. They have a clock speed of up to 4.4GHz, compared to the 4.6GHz of the i5. But they do have twice as many threads. The AMD Ryzen 5 3600 also stands out thanks to a very low power consumption of 65W.

From TN vs. VA vs. IPS

VA and IPS panels are both significantly better, with IPS being the best overall for viewing angles. With VAs and especially TNs having some color and contrast shifts when viewing at angles, they're not as well suited to color-critical professional work as IPS panels, which is why you see most pro-grade monitors sticking to IPS.

VCSystemTray.exe is consuming CPU

C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Care\VCSystemTray.exe is eating 50% of CPU, hence was renamed. Another suspect is C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Care\VCAdmin.exe.

Sequence:

Missing Smart Card driver (SCFILTER\CID_720401000000) looks to be strange, as Vaio does not have this reader. Perhaps it is something connected with GlobeTrotter HSxPA… Does not happen to me anymore.

After installing the UPTEK Password Bank addon for Firefox to support password management via fingerprint, the following message appears:

How browsers should be displayed

The solution is described here – you should upgrade Upek Protector Suite up to v5.8.2. Another links for the problem:

Unfortunately, the plugin is not compatible with Firefox 3.5b (it crashes the core after any HTML form containing a password field is submitted).

5G networks are not shown in the list of available networks

Intel Wifi 5100 card (driver 14.3.2.1) on Sony Vaio running Windows 7 x64 does not list 5G networks.

Set Computer management → Device Manager → Network Adapters → Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN → Properties → Advanced tab → Wireless mode to the value 6. 802.11a/b/g (the original value was 4. 802.11b/g).

After wake up from sleep display resolution is low

When Sony VAIO is awaken from sleep, display resolution is set to 1024×768 instead of needed 1600×1200. This happens from time to time: sometimes wakeup works smoothly. The problem is also mentioned here.
